History
Clear quartz, known in ancient Greece as krystallos — meaning “ice” — was long believed to be eternal ice sent from Mount Olympus, too pure to ever melt. This poetic notion endured until the 16th century.
During the Middle Ages, clear quartz crystal balls became famous for scrying — a practice of fortune-telling that continues to capture the imagination today. The 17th century saw quartz rise in jewelry, reaching its golden era during the Art Deco period, when houses like Cartier featured it in exquisite designs.
